Submissions FAQ

Have questions about our submissions process? We have answers!

Is there a cost to submit?

  • There is no entry fee at this time. However, since this is an independent passion project, donations are greatly appreciated (but not expected).

Is there a prize?

  • Since this is a small independent passion project, there is no cash prize at this time. However, the winners will be featured on our website as well as in our first-ever digital magazine in December. We are looking into ways to be able to offer cash prizes in the future.

Who can submit?

  • Anyone can submit. However, we try to prioritize young (between the ages of 14 and 30) and emerging writers (writers who haven’t been published before). We do this because younger generations and emerging voices are broadly overlooked by the current publishing industry. We want to give overlooked writers their chance to shine, especially since having their work featured can break through barriers and help launch their careers.

Do you expect visual artwork?

  • We plan to start accepting visual artwork (photography, paintings, sketches, digital art, etc…) soon!

What if I miss a submission deadline?

  • No worries! If you miss a submission deadline, you can submit your work under general submissions. It may mean that your work will be considered for the next edition rather than the edition you were trying for, but it’s better to submit late than never!

What do I do if my work was accepted elsewhere?

  • Congrats! You can send an email to Wickedsunpress@gmail.com to let us know. If you submitted multiple pieces to us, please tell us which works specifically were accepted elsewhere. While we cannot consider the work that was accepted, we may be able to consider any unaccepted works on the same file.
